Sun Metrics Approach:
When designing a system to fit the particular needs of a client, there are several factors which determine the method of system design. Prior to a site visit, Sun Metrics works to gain basic information to help facilitate the process of sizing a PV system. Legal name, address, contact phone and email address are required, along with at least 12 months of kWh information. 12 months of kWh information is important because it provides the entire seasonal curve and scope of the home or building’s energy demand. Determining the consumption will provide Sun Metrics solar designer’s with enough information to properly size the system and then see if it will fit on the roof of the prospective home or building.
Listening to the concerns, objectives and goals of the homeowner or building owner is paramount in determining which system size and design will best fit the prospective client’s needs. For instance, if a prospective client wishes to have a neutral energy footprint, commonly referred to as a net zero household or building, then Sun Metrics will design a system using solar energy products that will yield enough energy over time to offset 100% of the client’s billing. This is why gaining the 12 months of consumption data is key to designing the system. If the prospective client wants to minimize the amount of money invested in solar and maximize the return, a smaller system taking care of the highest “Tiered” energy rates may best fit the needs of the client.
Site Evaluation:
In order to properly assess and design the perfect system for a prospective client Sun Metrics must perform a full site evaluation. While listening to the site owner’s concerns, the Sun Metrics designer will take photos and measurements while at the home or building. Looking at the service panel, capturing the load centers, service panel characteristics, the architecture and material makeup of the home, aesthetic considerations, roof angle, direction, roof type and potential for light obstructions are just a few of the key factors Sun Metrics designers take into account when designing a system that is perfect for the owner.
Certifications:
